Lacy Baby Bonnet Difficulty : Primary

Hey Guys

Its AGirlNamedEgypt back with another AGirlNamedEgypt Knits and today we are making a really adorable Lacy Baby Bonnet.

 

Abbreviations

K = Knit     P = Purl     ST= Stitch      K2 tog = Knit two together    yfwd= Wrap Yarn over needle forward, Makes 1 st        psso = Pass Slip Stich Over

 

The size it will make 30 cm width around face

 

First Gather your Supplies

What you will need

  • 35g of 4ply baby yarn
  • 3.25 mm Knitting Needles which makes a premature size ( if you want it smaller use 3mm or if you wish it bigger use 3.75mm )
  • 1 medium to large button
  • Darning needle to sew up seams

Bonnet

Cast on 73sts and knit 12 rows.

Work Patter as follows:

Row 1.  K6, * P1, K2 tog,  yfwd,  K1, yfwd, slip 1, K1, psso ; repeat from * to last 7sts, K7.

Row 2. K7, * P5, K1 ; repeat from * to last 6sts, K6.

Row 3. K6, * K1, yfwd, slip 1, K1, psso, P1, K2 tog, yfwd ; repeat from * to last 7sts, K7.

Row 4. K6, P3* K1, P5 ; repeat from * to last 10sts K1, P3, K6.

These 4 rows form the pattern. Repeat them until the work measures 8.5cm from the beginning, Ending with a row 4. ( when I knitted the bonnet it was about 5x each row ending with row 4 )

Crow Shaping

Row 1. K8, * K2 t, K9 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat, K8 instead of K9. ( 67sts )

Row 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20. Knit.

Row 3. K7, * K2 tog, K8 ; repeat from * to end. ( 61sts )

Row 5. K6, * K2 tog, K7 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat, K8 instead of K7. ( 55sts )

Row 7. K5, * K2 tog, K6 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat , K8 instead of K6. ( 49sts )

Row 9. K4, * K2 tog, K5 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat, K1 instead of K5. ( 42sts )

Row 11. K3, * K2 tog , K4 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat, K1 instead of K4. ( 35sts )

Row 13. K2, * K2 tog, K3 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat, K1 instead of K3. ( 28sts )

Row 15. K1, * K2 tog, K2 ; repeat from * to end, Ending last repeat, K1 instead of K2. ( 21sts )

Row 17. * K2 tog, K1 ; repeat from * to end of row. ( 14sts )

Row 19. * K2 tog ; repeat from * to end. ( 7sts )

Make up: Break off yarn and run through the remaining stitches and fasten off securely. Sew up back seams for 3.5cm. Sew Wide Ribbon for each side or like I did make a knitted strap for a button.

Strap

Cast on 5 stitches.

Knit every row until word measures 2.5 inches.

Buttonhole Row. K2 sts * K1, Slip 1, psso, K1.

K1, yfwd, Knit to end ( 5sts )

Knit 2 rows.

Cast off.

Sew onto one side of bonnet on the other side sew securely on the button and……

Your Done.

I think I went well this was the first bonnet I have ever knitted and I think it would make a great DIY Christmas present.
